Doves
On page 83 the text says, "The hush over the house lay heavy, like snow sitting on our rooftop." Explain what this sentence is describes.
I think the “hush over the house lays heavy like snow on our on rooftop” means they were depressed and the was sad cause they thought uncle Darnel is dead.
I think the sentence means that if snow is on your roof it feels like it is heavy and it is going to fall on them. So what i am trying to say is the silents in their house is like its heavy on there shoulders.
When Delphine says“ The hush over the snow” means that is Delphine is talking about how the Hawks and the Doves fight over the war who is right or not and the Doves mean that they are not fighting against the war but Hawks mean that you are fighting against the war for someone or because you want to. So that is what i know that means.
Delphine think that uncle d is going to die but he did not die and the news told them thought the tv to get out of the room but Delphine stayed in there and she was praying that they was going to say all the soldiers where coming home…...
i think the snow go brake the rooftop and if they walk out the snow go fall off the roof and people go have to pick it up and the yard go be cover up and snow on top of the roof its go brake and they go have to fix it.
What i think the sentence mean that is that it was sadness every where it was so heavy. I also think that they were so sad that they can feel snow on the top of the house .
doves the hush lay over the house like snow sitting on our roof top is like what she ment was like when pa open the envelope everybody was being all loud and obnoxious and stuff thats why she said that
I think this the sentence on page 83 that says the hush lays heavy like snow own our rooftop means something like you are stressed or worried about someone.

doves the hush lay over the house like snow sitting on our roof top is like what she meant was like when pa open the envelope everybody was being all loud and obnoxious and stuff that's why she said that
“The hush lay over the house like snow sitting on our rooftop” means that when Pa opened the letter Vonetta and Fern were yelling at Delphine. When delphine said, “hush” the girls didn't so Pa said hush and everyone was quite.Like when snow lays on a rooftop you can hear yourself breathe, that`s how it was in the house. It was also quite because they thought Uncle Darnell was dead in the veitnim war.
The sentence on page 83 means the whole house got quiet and nobody said anything not even a whisper in the house because of the envelope about uncle Darnell and if he was going to be alive still or dead but when Pa opened the envelope it just said that he was going to be in the hospital for two weeks.
I think what Delphine meant In that sentence is there was a lot a silence in the house . And when it said like snow sitting in our roof is when snow is falling and you can't hear it when its falling in your roof.
when they used the metaphor "The hush over the house lay heavy, like snow sitting on our rooftop."it meant that the snow lay on their rooftop.still, and quiet. And when it falls it’s still quiet.
